Take the #MoveWithHeart pledge February 5, 2018 General Cardiology, Heart Health, Public Health 0 This American Heart Month, the California Medical Association is joining the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute in a national pledge to #MoveWithHeart. We invite you to submit a pledge by recording a video of yourself and upload it to Twitter or Instagram using #MoveWithHeart or go to www.MoveWithHeartPledge.com. Participate in just three simple steps: Record a short video of yourself saying “I pledge to move more for my heart health.” Share it on Twitter or Instagram using #MoveWithHeart. Challenge friends and family to #MoveWithHeart. Why pledge? Research shows that physical activity can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, even for those at high genetic risk. Only about 22 percent of adults meet federal physical activity guidelines. Adults should spend at least 2 ½ hours each week doing physical activity that gets their heart pumping and leaves them a little breathless. Being sedentary or inactive makes you nearly twice as likely to develop heart disease than if you’re active.
