CPPPH offers regional workshops on physician well-being

California Public Protection and Physician Health. Inc. (CPPPH) is hosting two fall workshops for hospital medical staffs and groups interested in physician health and well-being. The workshops will be held in Oakland on Saturday, October 7, and in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 4. The workshop, "Effective Functioning of Wellbeing Committees," is intended for hospital medical staff, medical groups, specialty societies, and others involved or interested in improving the health and well-being of physicians. Anthem Blue Cross offering fall seminars on 2017 operational updates

Throughout October, the Anthem Blue Cross Provider Network Education Team will offer live seminars to discuss 2017 operational updates. Topics will include participation in the California health care marketplace, Blue Cross and Blue Shield alpha prefix change, and details on the new website for radiology services. Each seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The first session is slated for October 3 in San Mateo, and the series will conclude on October 26 in Fresno. UCSF offers free training to empower healthcare providers to improve the health of their communities

California is experiencing an epidemic of obesity leading to costly chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, stroke and heart disease, with low-income, underserved communities disproportionately affected. Health care professionals from all specialties are invited to participate in a Palliative Care Mini Medical School, hosted by UC Davis on June 25 in Sacramento. This half-day course will be moderated by Fred Meyers, M.D., who helped establish the UC Davis Hospice Program, and will feature additional palliative care specialists, oncologists, social workers and more. The Immunization Action Coalition is offering four free workshops in California to help physicians improve adult immunization rates while streamlining their practices. This workshop, “Take a Stand™: Use Standing Orders to Improve Adult Immunization Rates,” is a one-stop shop to help you easily implement standing orders (“standardized procedures”) for adult immunizations in your practice.
